Native to Thailand, Malesia (Indonesia, Malaysia); elsewhere cultivated. Tree up to ca. 35 m tall, sometimes bigger. Habitat - widespread distribution in lowland and hill forest to 900 m asl; often planted. Bitter seeds eaten raw or as an ingredient for special culinary.
