Description | Jeniang, Kedah, Malaysia.Croton hirtus L'Her. Euphorbiaceae. CN: Hairy croton. Annual herb native to tropical Americas but has been naturalized to pantropically. Seeds dispersed by ants. An invasive species of disturbed land and considered as weeds to farmers. Stem with patent, long rigid hairs. Leaves spirally arranged except opposite towards apex. Single leaf; ovate-rhomboid, 3-nerved, at the base, margin serrate, stellate hairy on both sides of the blade; petiole hairy and bears two rather long-stalked glands on either side below the leaf blade. Inflorescence terminal racemes; female flowers at the base and the male upwards. Fruit a globose schizocarp.Synonym(s):Brachystachys hirta (L'Hr.)
