Emilia fosbergii Nicolson
EOL Text
Emilia fosbergii is a species of plants in the sunflower family.[1][2][3]
Emilia fosbergii is widely distributed in tropical and semitropical parts of the world: Africa, South and Southeast Asia, northern Australia, North and South America, and various oceanic islands. Its region of origin is the subject of some dispute; some say it is native to Africa, while others say Asia or South America.[4][5][6]
Within the United States, it is known from Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana, Texas, California, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.[4][7]
Common name for the species in the United States is Florida tasselflower.[8]

Emilia fosbergii is a tropical Asian weed that has become established in the flora; it may be expected elsewhere as an occasional escape. It is the more frequently collected Emilia in the flora. Names misapplied to plants of E. fosbergii include E. javanica (Burman f.) C. B. Robinson and E. sagittata Willdenow.
