Arbusto o árbol.
Arbusto o árbol de 3 a 6 m.
Hojas coriáceas, lustrosas, glabras, de elíptico-oblongas a ovado-lanceoladas, que miden de 7 a 20.5 por 3.5 a 8.7 cm. De 5 a 8 pares de nervios secundarios y venación terciaria irregularmente reticulada. Margen entero-ondulado. Apice acuminado. Base estrecha y redondeada. Pecíolo de 1 a 2.5 cm., conspicuamente pulvinado con crestas horizontales por encima. Inflorescencia axilar, paniculada o racemosa.Flores de amarillentas a blanco verdusco.Frutos en drupas, glabros, acostillados, de color amarillo anaranjado o rojizo cuando están maduros, que miden de 1.4 a 2.3 por 1.4 a 2.4 cm. Especie morfológicamente muy variable. Las colecciones de la vertiente del Atlántico presentan hojas más grandes (a veces lobuladas), con un ápice muy acuminado. Sin embargo, no constituyen características tan importantes como para crear una nueva especie.Isosyntype; Isotype for Phyllanthus leptobotryosus Donn. Sm.
