Rhizome widely creeping, laterally branched; rhizome scales lanceolate to subulate, peltate. Fronds widely spaced, articulated, simple, entire, mostly slightly dimorphic, fertile fronds longer and narrower than sterile fronds, firmly herbaceous to coriaceous. Sori round to elongate, arranged in 1 or more series on either side of the primary vein.

Microgramma
Helechos epífitos o raramente saxícolas. Rizomas alargados, rastreros o trepadores, cubiertos de escamas lanceoladas o aciculares, peltadas y no clatradas. Frondas monomorfas o dimorfas con las fértiles más angostas y largas que las estériles, estipitadas, glabras, pubescentes o con escamas; láminas simples, enteras en los márgenes, la nervación reticulada, las areolas con vénulas libres. Soros redondeados u oblongos, en una sola hilera entre el raquis y el margen; indusios ausentes; paráfisis presentes consistiendo de escamas angostas o tricomas pluricelulares. Esporas bilaterales, verrugosas, rugosas o tuberculadas. Género con 25 especies en el Nuevo Mundo y 2-3 especies en África.
Microgramma
Epiphytic or rarely saxicolous ferns. Rhizomes elongate, creeping or climbing, covered with lanceolate or acicular scales, peltate and not clathrate. Fronds monomorphic or dimorphic, with the fertile ones narrower and longer than the sterile ones, stipitate, glabrous, pubescent or with scales; blades simple, with entire margins, the venation reticulate, the areoles with free venules. Sori rounded or oblong, in a single row between the rachis and the margin; indusia absent; paraphyses present, consisting of narrow scales or pluricellular trichomes. Spores bilateral, verrucose, rugose, or tuberculate. A genus of 25 species in the New World and 2-3 species in Africa.

Microgramma is a genus of ferns in the family Polypodiaceae. Most species in the genus are restricted to Central and South America.
