Prostrate herb. Leaves narrowly ovate, elliptic or ovate-lanceolate, 2.5-7 cm long, 2-4 cm broad, sheathing at base, greenish with variegated, 2-4 stripes above, reddish-purple beneath. Inflorescence a stalked head of 2-3, terminal flowers subtended by 2, unequal, folded, leafy bracts. Flowers pinkish; corolla lobes ovate, obtuse, c. 1 cm long, joined below into a conspicuous, pale or whitish tube, longer than the lobes. Ovary glabrous with filiform style.
