Mansoa
Lianas with tendrils. Stems cylindrical or subquadrangular; cross section of the mature stem with a cross of 4 or 8 dark arms formed by the phloem tissue; interpetiolar zone glandular or not; pseudostipules short, conical-obtuse. Leaves opposite, 2- or 3-foliolate, with a terminal trifid or simple tendril; petioles sometimes with an apical glandular zone. Flowers in terminal panicles or racemes or in axillary corymbs. Calyx crateriform, tubular, or campanulate, simple, truncate or 5-dentate; corolla white, lilac, purple, or reddish, zygomorphic, tubular-campanulate or infundibuliform; stamens 4, didynamous; ovary superior, cylindrical, glandular-papillose, puberulent, with 2 locules, the ovules 2(3-4) seriate. Fruit a linear-oblong capsule, compressed or convex, sometimes tuberculate, with the valves parallel to the septum; seeds numerous, with 2 membranaceous wings or without wings. A genus of 15 species distributed from Mexico to Brazil.

Tallos cilíndricos o sub-cuadrangulares; corte transversal del tallo maduro con una cruz de 4 o 8 brazos obscuros formados por el tejido de floema; zona interpeciolar glandulosa o no; pseudoestípulas cortas, cónico-obtusas. Hojas opuestas, 2- o 3-folioladas, con un zarcillo terminal trífido o simple; pecíolos a veces con una zona glandulosa apical. Flores en panículas o racimos terminales o en corimbos axilares. Cáliz crateriforme, tubular o campanulado, simple, truncado o 5-dentado; corola blanca, lila, púrpura o rojiza, zigomorfa, tubular-campanulada o infundibuliforme; estambres 4, didínamos; ovario súpero, cilíndrico, glandular-papiloso, pubérulo, con 2 lóculos, los óvulos 2(3-4) seriados. Fruto una cápsula linear-oblonga, comprimida o convexa, a veces tuberculadas, con las valvas paralelas al septo; semillas numerosas, con 2 alas membranáceas o sin alas. Género con 15 especies distribuidas desde México hasta Brasil.
