The species is known only from the type collection in San Blas. The specimen is not complete and was probably described erroneously as a separate species from C. filipes, which occurs widely in the same area.

Distribucion en Costa Rica: Distribuido en la Zona Norte, Vertiente Atlántica, Pacífico Central y Sur. Elevación entre 50 - 1000 m.
Distribucion General: De Panamá a Colombia.
Árbol de 6 a 10 m de altura, ramitas glabras o con diminuta pubescencia de tricomas estrellados, delgadas, cilíndricas y verdosas. Hojas simples, alternas, oblongas a elípticas de 8 a 19 cm de largo por 3 a 6.5 cm de ancho, ápice apiculado o corto agudo, con diminuta pubescencia de tricomas estrellados, visibles solo con lupa (10X) en el envés.
Inflorescencia terminal con pocas flores, de color verde-pálido, raquis y pedicelos pubescentes, éstos últimos de tamaño variable. Estambres de 15 a 20, de 2 a 4 cm de largo. Frutos bayas globosas, lisas, con apariencia de limones verdes de 5 a 8 cm de largo por 4 a 5 cm de ancho, con pulpa blanca, péndulos, solitarios o de 3 a 4 por infrutescencia. Ginóforo de 2 a 5 cm de largo.Se caracteriza por sus pecíolos más o menos abultados en ambos extremos, la lámina algo blanquecina en el envés con diminutos pelos estrellados. Además con frutos péndulos.Isotype for Capparis pittieri Standl.
