Clitoria glaberrima is known to occur in Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, south east Mexico, Panama and Venezuela. The distribution is poorly understood as the taxon has frequently been misidenitfied (Stevens et al. 2001)

Árbol o arbusto.
Árbol o arbusto de 3 a 13 m de altura. Ramitas glabras, pálidas; estípulas deciduas, de 5 a 7 mm de largo. Hojas trifolioladas, folíolos de 6-16,5 por 3-10,5 cm, ovados, ápice abrupto-acuminado, glabros; estipelas deciduas.
Inflorescencia fasciculada o racimos muy cortos (1 cm), hasta con seis flores. Flores púrpura, violeta claro o blancas, de 2,5 a 4 cm de largo. Frutos tipo legumbres aplanadas, de (8-)11-20 por 1,6-2,0 cm, lisas, que se enroscan en espiral al abrirse, amarillo paja cuando secas.
DIAGNÁSTICO: Se diferencia del resto de las especies del país por su hábito arborescente; las hojas cuando secas se tornan de un color verdoso amarillento característico. Vegetativamente se podría confundir con Machaerium pittieri (Fabaceae), pero en esta última las hojas se tornan negras o pardo negruzco cuando secas y los folíolos son alternos.
