Distribucion en Costa Rica: Pacífico Sur: Valle del General. Elevación entre 600-730 m.
Distribucion General: De México a Panamá.
Árbol de 6 m de altura. Hojas ovadas de 5 a 20 cm de largo por 4 a 12 cm de ancho; pecíolos con 2 glándulas sésiles en el ápice axial, margen aserrado.
Inflorescencias unisexuales, espigas de 14 a 23 o más cm de largo. Frutos alrededor de 8 mm de longitud. Se reconoce por su indumento lepídoto, por sus hojas ovadas, con el margen aserrado y con 3 nervios en la base, por sus pecíolos glandulares y sus inflorescencias unisexuadas.Isosyntype for Croton tonduzii Pax in Pittier
