Distribucion en Costa Rica: Es conocida hasta el momento en la región de Bribrí, Talamanca y Península de Osa, a una elevación entre 0 y 200 msnm.

Arbol o arbusto.
Arbol o arbusto de 4 a 8 m. de altura. Ramitas ferrugíneo pubescentes. Hojas simples, alternas, de 10 a 15 (-20) por 4 a 5 (-8) cm., de forma elíptica o elíptico-lanceolada.
Inflorescencia hasta con 6 flores. Pedúnculo de 4 a 16 mm. de largo. Flores amarillentas. Pedicelo de 3.6 a 7.3 cm. de largo. Bráctea de 0.3 a 4.2 por 0.2 a 3.6 cm., orbicular. Sépalos de 2 a 3 por 4 a 5 mm., ovados. Los pétalos externos miden de 2.2 a 3.1 por 0.4 a 0.7 cm., de triangulares a lineares. Frutos apocárpicos, monocarpos de 1.4 a 2.8 por 1.0 a 1.7 cm., cilíndrico-redondeados en los extremos. Estípite de 8 a 12 mm. de largo. Se caracteriza por sus ramitas jóvenes con una pubescencia ferrugínea y sus hojas membranáceas y sedoso-pubescentes.Isotype for Unona panamensis B.L. Rob.
