Distribucion en Costa Rica: Se encuentra en el Valle Central y en ambas vertientes: en la Zona Protectora El Rodeo, Guápiles y el Parque Nacional Carara. Elevaciones entre 0 y 800 m.
Distribucion General: De Honduras a Ecuador.
Arbol de 8 a 25 m. Estípulas glabras de 25 a 50 por 6 a 10 mm.
Hojas ancho-elípticas u ovadas de 9 a 32 por 3.5 a 17 cm. Oostíolo elevado, de 1.5 a 2 mm. Se reconoce por sus hojas anchas con los nervios secundarios prominentes, que forman un nervio submarginal.
