Distribucion en Costa Rica: Ampliamente distribuida, tanto en áreas montañosas como de bajura. Elevación 280-1300 m.
Distribucion General: Nicaragua.
Árbol de 6 a 15 m de altura; ramitas densamente híspido-pubescentes; estípulas de 1.5 -2 por 1 cm, persistentes. Hojas con (2-) 3-4 (-5) pares de folíolos, elípticos a obovados, ápice largo-acuminado, amarillo pubescentes, más densa en el envés, el par distal de 11-23 por 5-11 cm, par basal de 2.5-11 por 2-6.3 cm; raquis alado, glándulas interfoliolares sésiles, corto-estipitadas o largo-estipitadas; pecíolo alado o muy estrecho-alado.
Inflorescencias en espigas, pedúnculo 1-5 cm de largo, denso piloso, raquis floral de 1-4 (-9) cm de largo.Flores con cáliz de 10-16 mm de largo; corola de 20-27 mm de largo. Frutos aplanados, de 15-37 por 4-5 por 0.5 cm, densos ferrugíneo-pilosos.Se reconoce por su pubescencia densa de pelos largos y ferrugíneos sobre las ramitas, hojas, flores, y tamaño de las brácteas (15-18 mm) de la inflorescencia.
