Quararibea platyphylla is a species of flowering plant in the Bombacaceae family. It is found in Costa Rica and Panama. It is threatened by habitat loss.

In Costa Rica several collections have been made in Burica, Puntarenas, near the Panama border. In Panama collections have come from the Atlantic slopes through the length of the country to Colombia, into which it possibly extends.

Árbol o arbusto.
Árbol o árbusto de 4 a 12 m de altura. Ramitas glabras, pardas; estípulas deciduas o persistentes en el ápice. Hojas simples, alternas, de elípticas a oblanceoladas, de (25-)30-45 por 12-19(-21) cm, ápice de obtuso a acuminado, base de cuneada a redondeada, coriáceas, con tres nervios basales.
Flores blancas axilares; cáliz tubular, de 1,2 a 2 cm de largo. Frutos elípticos, de 2,1-3,0 por 1,3-1,7 cm; con 1 o 2 semillas.
DIAGNÁSTICO: Se distingue por sus hojas glabras de gran tamaño y sus flores sobre la parte de las ramas que ha perdido las hojas. Vegetativamente podría ser confundida con Quararibea funebris, pero sus hojas carecen de pelos en la axila de los nervios.
