Árbol o arbusto.
Árbol o arbusto de 2 a 10 m de altura. Ramitas glabras; savia blanca; raíces fúlcreas presentes. Hojas simples, opuestas, de 11-25(47) por 2,5-5(8) cm, espatuladas, ápice de agudo a acuminado, glabras, borde entero.
Inflorescencias en panículas, más o menos piramidales, hasta 11 cm de largo. Flores blanco amarillento. Frutos tipo cápsulas, de 3 a 3,5 cm, suculentas, piriformes, de verdes a grisáceas a pardo verdusco; 1 o 2 semillas por lóculo.
Se reconoce fácilmente por sus hojas sésiles, angostamente espatuladas, gruesas, con el borde revoluto-calloso y agrupadas al final de las ramitas; así como por su tronco con evidentes raíces fúlcreas.Syntype for Tovomita glossophylla Cuatrec.
